I posted something on the Borovichi group tonight about our little CQ and her thrashing and head banging in her sleep. I have read soooo many articles and discussed with international specialists as well as our pediatrician about her sleep behavior, but everyone seems to be in agreement that this is a normal behavior.
On the Borovichi site there was a post to update on children adopted from Borovichi through the years and it's sooo amazing to hear how well most of these children are doing, but one post caught my attention when she said that her daughter, brought home at 2, thrashes in her sleep and she is now 6 years old. Could this really last forever????
I know many of you have experience with this, what kind of research have you heard on this? What have your doctors told you about it? Are there any strategies to get them away from this behavior? Is it wrong to try and stop it?
It breaks my heart to see her doing this. I always rock her before bedtime and if I go in and she is thrashing, I pick her up and rock her back to sleep, but just minutes later she is doing it again. It seems to be more in her sleep than getting to sleep now so I know that there is some improvement, and I have to remember that she's only been home for 4 months. But the poor child has worn a bald spot on the back of her head and just the other night I awoke to her hitting her head and SHE BROKE THE SKIN ON THE BACK OF HER HEAD!!! YIKES!! She didn't seem phased by that, but take away her play cell phone and she is throwing a HUGE tantrum. :) But really, is there anything that anyone has done to help this behavior? I would love to know.
